Sliding Scale Pricing

Financial resources, including income, are not and should not be the only determining factor in whether or not someone can access services/care/etc.

Herbalist Alexis J. Cunningfolk of Worts and Cunning Apothecary

I offer classes at a sliding scale because of my values around economic justice and the solidarity economy. Each workshop or experience is either free of charge or has multiple price points and participants can choose to contribute at whichever price best fits their circumstances. To assist you in deciding what level to contribute at I have created a short quiz (it might be thought provoking, but hopefully also a little fun!):

At this time the lowest prices available reflect my need to cover basic materials and the minimum labor costs. However, over the course of this season I hope to broaden the scale with options that are completely free of charge. If you require this option please contact me. Anytime there is space in a workshop, I will invite those who cannot afford to pay and I hope to offer more free workshops in the future.

In addition to sliding scale pricing Ten Stems NYC is further involved in the solidarity economy though utilizing and producing only materials that can be composted and reliably recycled as well as facilitating knowledge and skills transfers.

Future goals include:

  1. Committing to ethical sourcing and conducting financial transactions through local credit unions and/or community banks.
  2. Collaborating with organizations with similar values.
  3. Developing an accountability framework to ensure the commitment to these values are upheld.

Feel free to ask me where I am in this process and I appreciate suggestions and words of support!
