Behind Ten Stems

Hey there, my name is Sabeena and my pronouns are she/they. I have been in love with nature since I was a child.

I majored in Sustainable Development as an undergrad because I was curious about the relationship between human development and our relationship with the natural world.

Since then, I spent years immersed in the regional food movement while volunteering with Grow NYC and community gardens, completed a permaculture course that began my journey of reconnecting to nature, and spent a season apprenticing on a 26 acre vegetable and flower farm.

I originally joined the farm to gain experience in cultivating vegetables. However while there I gained a new appreciation for flowers and floral arranging as artforms. I fell in love with creating bouquets in my free time as a form of meditation and to create thoughtful gifts for the people around me.

After returning to New York City I realized that the cost of botanical art classes put them out of comfortable reach for myself and made them a luxury experience for most of my peers. I offer workshops on a sliding scale in order to counter this inaccessibility.

Thank you for taking time to visit this space and I hope you join me!
